(The recent decline of the US dollar hasn’t helped) A digital back raises the cost substantially. However, ALPA recommends the use of an HPF ring for optimum handling. The cost of an Alpa, at 10,000-14,000 as of this writing for the body, a customized lens, viewfinder, filmback and other basic accessories, would seem luxurious to many photographers. This HPF ring is not included in the scope of delivery of the lens. Scope of delivery: The product images are sample images and often show the lens with an ALPA HPF ring (High Precision Focusing). A lateral lens shift is turned into a rise or fall option by a simple rotation of the camera by 90. The STC thus also offers a stitching function and a corresponding multiplication of the number of pixels for one shot. With a weight of less than one kilogram, the HR ALPAR 180mm remains easy to transport and, with an aperture of 5.6, delivers perfect performance even with an open aperture. The ALPA 12 STC (Shift Travel Compact) sets the standard for very compact and light cameras with an integrated shift (perspective correction). Since the use of long focal lengths usually leads to very low camera inclinations, its image circle of 80mm in practice is easy enough, especially as the resolution remains almost constant over the entire image field. For these subjects and requirements, the HR ALPAR 180mm rounds off the ALPA lens portfolio. It is often overlooked that landscape and architectural photography is not automatically equivalent to wide-angle photography: Often, detail shots enrich the meaning of an image path and topographical features also require the use of longer focal lengths. The ALPA lens adapter is available in different versions: long barrel. The focal plane shutter of the ALPA 12 FPS can also be damaged. All lenses with an ALPA adapter fit the ALPA 12 TC and all other ALPA 12 cameras. Warning: If a short barrel lens is attached to an ALPA body without an appropriate adapter, mechanical damage to the rear lens element and the camera is possible.

As with the other lenses in this range, the “50s” also recommend the use of a perfectly matched lens hood. Like its “siblings” (HR ALPAGON 32mm and 90mm), the HR ALPAGON 50mm is optimized for the perfect resolution of even the finest details, guaranteeing extremely detailed and vivid images with perfect micro-contrast and tonal values. This aspect makes it the ideal complement to the super wide angle HR ALPAGON 32mm and the “normal lens” HR ALPAGON 90mm with which it forms the “Holy Trinity” at ALPA. In medium format, the HR ALPAGON 50mm plays the role of a moderate wide-angle lens, which is often referred to as a “report wide angle”.

Anyone who automatically thinks of a standard focal length at term 50mm exposes himself as a 35mm photographer – at least regarding ALPA dimensions.
